Iranian Forces State Attack on US Base in Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites linked to the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
It said debris fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
