Two Victims Revealed in Brown University Attack as Law Enforcement Continue Search for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who were killed in Saturday’s mass shooting in Providence had tributes paid to them on Monday – as a manhunt for their killer continued following the release by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect questioned in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which honored her memory at a gathering on Sunday.

She served as second-in-command of Brown’s chapter of the campus GOP group, as the club stated. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also posted condolences online, stating: “There are no words. Remembering her kin and peers, especially her parents.”

The Second Victim

The second fatality was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the renowned school, according to relatives.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of becoming a neurosurgeon and helping people,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Authorities said on Sunday evening that a man aged 24 arrested in a raid at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was released from custody.

“We have a murderer out there,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you have to regroup and head another way, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”

Public Fear

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “It is expected to provoke renewed concern for our community”.

The gunman began shooting inside a lecture hall in the engineering facility on over the weekend, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm pistol, a law enforcement official told the media outlet.

Law enforcement that entered the lodging seized a pair of pistols and magazines when the suspect was detained, according to reports.

The Wounded Victims

Of the nine hurt, a single scholar was discharged from care, stated Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in critical but stable condition, and one was in critical condition, officials reported on Sunday.

Durham Academy, a independent school in Durham, North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was one of the critically injured.

Tributes were paid to Cook at a church service in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only here growing up... but at Brown University she was an incredible light in that particular place as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the group. “Ella was known for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she worked for her branch and fellow classmates,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by Umurzokov’s death in a tribute. “We extend our sincere condolences to his relatives, companions, and fellow students and mourn the loss of his promising future.”

Saturday’s killings at Brown, the country's seventh most historic university with about 7,300 undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students, occurred during one of at least 392 shooting incidents documented across the United States so far in the current year, according to records. Monday was the 349th day of the year.
